Background

The company behind Warehousefinder.eu is Logent 3PL Consulting AB, a company that has been actively engaged as a consultant to the third party logistics sector since 2003. Logent 3PL Consulting has acted as a broker of third party logistics services matching client needs with the right supplier.

 

Everyone at Warehousefinder.eu has extensive experience of the TPL industry and witnessed the results of both good and poor logistics solutions. One particular lesson we have learnt is that it is at least as important for a supplier to choose its clients as it is for a client to choose its supplier. A poor match means unprofitable business for the supplier and a dissatisfied client. When we have spoken with dissatisfied clients two factors have been particularly evident. The first is dissatisfaction with basic services such as picking the right products and delivering them on time. The second is that the supplier has put too little focus on developing operations.

 

We see a need

 

That for as a supplier developing operations stands high on the list of things to do and many companies do devote a great deal of energy to developing services accordingly. Even so, many clients feel they get too little in the way of development. The gap between the perception of what suppliers think they are doing and what clients think they are getting can be due to several reasons. Suppliers that do not specialise often invest substantial resources in developing a client unique functionality in line with what the client demands. In all honesty, genuine third party logistics solutions are not about paying lower wages or driving faster. Nor are there any substantial differences in storage costs compared to competitors. True efficiency gains are achieved by working smarter and by using human resources, equipment and storage facilities more cost-effectively.
